RHSS Spotify Playlist
A little Side Project
It’s time to reveal a little secret we have been sitting on for many months! Long before we started the RHSS Substack page we started cultivating a Spotify playlist to accompany our repeated readings of The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion. It is a combination of music Beth Brower has mentioned, songs we have heard on other social media pages, ones we just personally love, and some that we found by happenstance. We are both great lovers of music in many genres, so this playlist reflects our personal interests. We are well aware not every song will necessarily be to everyone’s unique tastes, but we hope you will enjoy it all the same. Please forgive the instances where we just fell for a particular artist and couldn’t help but add multiple songs from their catalog.
Because the world of music is vast and the book series incomplete, please consider this playlist a work-in-progress. It will evolve and be updated over time as we find more inspirations, and as more books come out. For this reason, we won’t include the full list of songs and artists here on Substack. In general, you should know the playlist is arranged in order of Emma’s journal volumes 1-8. This leaves each of you with a bit of a mystery, to which you are welcome to apply your own interpretative skills. You can decide where we believe each book starts and ends. Why are certain songs given their place on the playlist? What might be inspiring a song’s inclusion on our playlist in regards or a certain character(s) and/or event(s)?

*SURPRISE.. there are some songs on this playlist that apply to events that are not yet written. Our predictions along with strong foreshadowing evidence, lead us to believe these songs will apply to future plot lines. This song is a perfect example. Whatever engagement Arabella ends up entering into this season, disaster will follow.

Music with meaning. I love this!
